The Family Center’s mission is to strengthen families affected by crisis, illness or loss to create a healthier and more secure present and future for their children and all family members. Improving outcomes for vulnerable children and families is the focus of our work keeping New Yorkers stronger, longer.
We have served vulnerable New Yorkers and their families since 1994. The Family Center’s signature interdisciplinary model includes social, legal, behavioral health and mental health services that address New Yorkers’ needs in multiple ways.
In 2017, The Family Center served 2,050 families, including 4,345 individuals, over 95% of who receive Medicaid and have annual incomes below the federal poverty threshold. Our clients and their families face a variety of chronic illnesses and emotional health challenges that reflect the health burden of the NYC communities we serve.
